Senior Family Solicitor

Position Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and ambitious Family Solicitor to join our dynamic team.

This role provides a unique opportunity to make a substantial impact on the department and achieve your career goals.

We are looking for someone who is talented, driven, and dedicated.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a full caseload of divorce/finance or children matters.
  • Supervise and mentor junior team members, where required.
  • Contribute to business development.
  • Stay up to date with changes in current law.

 

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Qualified Solicitor with 3 years PQE.
  • Proven experience in family law.
  • Strong technical knowledge in either divorce/finance or childcare.
  • Children panel membership preferred but not essential.
  • Excellent organisational skills, ability to deal with sensitive matters under time constraints.

The firm specialises in various legal areas including residential and commercial conveyancing, wills and probate, estates and trusts and tax planning and family law. With offices in Workington and Whitehaven, we provide legal services throughout North & West Cumbria, prioritising the interests of both clients and employees.

We are looking to recruit a qualified Private Client Solicitor to join our team, with experience in handling their own private client case load.

In return we are offering an attractive and highly competitive benefits package.

Salary is negotiable, dependent upon experience.

The position is based in West Cumbria within a friendly and welcoming office environment

Flexible and hybrid working available

The role will be support by experienced secretaries and administrative staff

Trainee Solicitors

We are committed to recruiting the best talent with a clear vision of career progression within Milburns. We support our aspiring solicitors throughout their training, so that their focus can be on developing the skills and qualifications required for a long career in the legal profession.

 

In addition to the wide range of benefits that we offer to all our staff, trainees receive the additional support set out below:

Solicitor Qualifying Examinations route:

 

We understand the demanding nature of the SQE and offer all trainees one day of paid study leave per week.

Upon successful completion of each SQE1 and SQE2, we will reimburse your exam fees.

We can help with funding by providing an interest free loan to meet the cost of both preparation courses.

You will undertake a structured period of Qualifying Work Experience, supervised by experienced legal advisors.  This will provide you with the skills required for qualification as a solicitor.

 

Legal Practice Course route:

 

This is available to graduates who are in the process of completing (or have already completed) the Legal Practice Course.

We will fund the Professional Skills Course.

You will undertake a structured training contract, ensuring you gain the skills required for successful qualification as a solicitor.  This will include experience in at least two departments supervised by experienced legal advisors.
